Description
5" high by 3.25' wide art glass pear paperweight - probably Italian but with no marks can't be positive. Amythest applied glass leaf and stem, with controlled bubble treatment around a colored swirl center that fades from gold to amber/orange to blue. CONDITION: Not sure if it's a defect, a tooling mark or an artist signature/mark. On the side there is an impression/dent in the glass that looks similar to a basic drawing of a bird flying or two leaves on a stem. Just above that area there is a rough field of Stimple marks. I just don't think the glass blower polished the piece well enough in that spot since it does not look like an area caused by a drop when examined under a magnifying glass. There's just no scuffing it's too polished to have been caused by a drop. Plus, there is no scratching to the glass surface in either spot that I found these marks which leads me to believe that they are handling marks impressed into the molten glass that were not able to be polished out by the artisan. To sum up there are 2 rough spots in the glass that I found, and they are both on the same side and area of the pear.
